Garnet Hill Lodge has a rich history that dates back to 1893, when Frank Hooper opened a garnet mine near the site of the lodge today. The mine settlement soon turned into an incredible community that featured a store, school, blacksmith, boarding house, and private homes. By 1928, the garnet supply was depleted and the mine closed down.
